Generally speaking, an average court needs to be 120 ft (36.57 m) long and 60 ft (18.3m) wide. (Remember the boundary length of the court is 78 feet long). This allows for 42 ft (12.8 m) behind the baselines and 16.5 ft (5 m) on either side of the doubles lines to allow players to move freely.
